Mr. Cellophane shoulda been is his name! Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald is going to be anything but invisible, inconsequential when he takes over the role of Amos Hart in the long-running, Tony Award-winning revival of Chicago beginning October 28 at the Ambassador Theatre. Fitzgerald succeeds Todd Buonopane, who will play his final performance October 27.
Set in the 1920s, Chicago follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover. Desperate to avoid conviction, she hires Billy Flynn, Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, much to the dismay of her rival cellmate Velma Kelly. Directed by Walter Bobbie, the Tony-winning revival is now in its 17th year.
Fitzgerald received Tony nominations for his performances in Finian's Rainbow and Young Frankenstein. He also appeared on Broadway in Amour, Wicked and The Merchant of Venice. Fitzgerald's off-Broadway credits include Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Toward the Somme, Saturday Night, Wise Guys, Corpus Christi and The Cripple of Inishmaan. His film and TV credits include Girl Most Likely, Personal Velocity, Twins, Next Caller and The Electric Company.
Chicago also stars Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Ryan Silverman as Billy Flynn and Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton.
